Korean american local to this restaurant. Probly +5th visit. TMI, they are renaming and working on their new sign outside. Food is consistently good, including side dishes. Latedt tries were jokbal and endaegujorim (fish in sauce). Super friendly service. We went after lunch hours, so we were the only table ;) I see some recent bad reviews about service and food quality. If you don't speak the language and coming to a restaurant where "local Koreans" eat, it is unfair to expect American level of service due to language limitations ;) Yes, the food is not cheap here but quality is better than most average Korean restaurants.

Looking for some legit Korean food? Gaon is an all-rounder. Perhaps you want a good Korean hangover soup? Gaon's gamjatang is a MUST have. Want something spicy but need something for your kiddos to eat too? GAON is the place to be. Some of our FAVORITES: - Original Katsu (10/10) Crispy GOODNESS! Omg, I have been to my fair share of Korean restaurants that serve this traditional dish, and NONE of them have come even close to beating Gaon's. - GamJaTang (10/10) Served in a traditional Korean stone pot, Gaon's gamjatang is out of this world. And, they add a good amount of perilla leaves and ground sesame seeds (a definite plus).

This place has become my go-to spot for Korean pancakes! Absolutely love both their pancakes--leek pancake and seafood pancake. The seafood pancake is packed with squid and mussels/clams so that with every bite, you'll have a mouthful of perfectly seasoned and textured seafood. The leek pancake is very basic but something about this pancake is so delicious and addicting (my personal fave)! The edges are nice and crispy and the middle has the right amount of crunch and chewiness. Both the pancakes are generous in portion so it can definitely be a meal in it if itself. Also, to top it off (if available), these pancakes come in cute pizza-like boxes! Also tried the braised short rib (galbi jjim), which is another favorite for me! The meat is braised so well that you can effortlessly remove the meat from the bones. This dish also has rice cakes, squash, and carrots which are cooked/steamed nicely and complement well with the meat. Always coming back to this mom-n-pop shop for their amazing pancakes and to explore other dishes on their menu!
